Spelt is one of the oldest cereal grains known. Estimated to be over 9,000 years old, it existed well before our modern day hybrid wheat grains.
At Happle Gourmet Foods, we primarily use spelt because of it's rich flavor. However, it is also a viable alternative for people suffering from wheat related allergies. Spelt is also proven to be a more complex carbohydrate, which is digested slower and more efficiently by the body.
